Tenacious Nostalgia

Tenacious Nostalgia is a limited edition monograph by Oakland-based fine artist Colleen Longo Collins investigating the dark corners of femininity, explorations of memory and nostalgia, and growing up female. Across a handful of female archetypes, this collection of images traverses sensuality, sexuality, mystery and storytelling, and make-believe. There are strange positions and awkward movements. There is voyeurism and surrealism. 

Referencing memories from Collins’ girlhood into womanhood, college into graduate school, twenties into thirties, Tenacious Nostalgia examines the complex roles women play and the story that the feminine reveals.
